Is R2-D2 in Star Wars: Episode IX? He didn’t appear in the official Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer, should we be worried about our favorite droid?

No doubt you have watched the Star Wars: Episode IX trailer more than once. There was plenty to take away from the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer; from the reveal of Emperor Palpatine, Kylo Ren fighting the Knights of Ren plus all the little theories confirmed as well. However, we also have a ton of questions, one of them being, where the hell is R2-D2? Is R2-D2 in Star Wars: Episode IX?

This sounds like a really dumb question at first; after all, it’s R2-D2. But he didn’t feature in the teaser trailer, not even for a brief second. So we can’t help but wonder.

If you don’t believe me, check out the trailer for yourself just below.

So, what’s going then? Is R2-D2 not in Star Wars: Episode IX? Is this why he didn’t appear in the teaser trailer?

It’s highly doubtful the iconic little Astromech Droid will not be in the final installment of the Skywalker saga. If he was being taken out, it surely would have had to have happened in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It wouldn’t sit well with fans if the little droid suddenly disappeared with nothing more than a passing comment.

So, you should expect to see him turn up. However, with him not appearing in the trailer, it could be a sign that whatever they have planned for him is something they don’t want us to even get a whiff off.

Basically, this could be the final time we see R2-D2.

Think about it for a moment. This will be the end of the Skywalker saga. R2-D2 has always had a close affiliation with the Skywalkers. So maybe, R2’s time is coming to an end, just like the Skywalkers?

If this is the case, how exactly would R2 come out of the franchise? With Luke gone, will he just shut down? Kinda like he did when Luke went to live on Ahch-To.

Another possibility is R2 will be killed off in some way. A moment that I think would probably bring the fandom to its knees with heartbreak. This might explain why C-3PO is running with a Bowacaster though?

C-3PO out for revenge? Rambo C-3PO?

What do you think is going on? Did R2-D2 not feature in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer because something is set to happen to the little Astromech? Drop a comment just below sharing your thoughts.
