In Star Wars, there was a time of democracy and stability. However, the emergence of Emperor Palpatine alongside Darth Vader shatters the democracy and shows that there is a hunger for power.
In Game of Thrones, power is also crucial, as it’s a battle to see who will be the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms and end up sitting on the Iron Throne. Of course, this struggle for power in Game of Thrones also has a lot to do with politics.
At the same time, Star Wars and Game of Thrones have plenty of differences.
In Star Wars, there is lightsaber duels, a battle between the Light Side and the Dark Side, as well as plenty of fighting in space.
For Game of Thrones, there is sword fighting, dragon riding, and battles against the Army of the Dead.
Probably what makes Star Wars and Game of Thrones so popular are the story arcs of their characters. In each franchise, it’s so easy to get emotionally attached to different characters, which leads us to comparing Star Wars characters to some of the main players in Game of Thrones.
