While Jedi: Fallen Order steals the spotlight, a new Star Wars title has been unveiled at E3 2019.

The long rumored next installment in the LEGO Star Wars series was officially confirmed during Microsofts 2019 XBOX E3 conference. Titled LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the game will boast levels across all nine films under the Skywalker Saga umbrella.

What is unclear, at this stage, is how much of this package will be original content. LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy covered the prequel and original trilogies in 2005 and 2006, respectively, before being bundled together as part of The Complete Saga.

Additionally, The Force Awakens was given a similar LEGO makeover in 2016. Whether The Skywalker Saga will simply feature levels from these titles remastered for modern consoles, or built from the ground up for the purpose of this title remains to be seen.

Furthermore, the trailer didn’t confirm whether levels from LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, or anything from Rogue One and Solo, would feature in the package. While the trailer appears to make a point that the package will be “all nine films in one game”, one hopes that the larger universe will be given the LEGO treatment in some form.

On a personal level, the LEGO Star Wars games are some of my favorite takes on the Star Wars universe. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with the LEGO Star Wars games, and I have no reason to doubt that another joyously fun experience is round the corner.

Unfortunately a firm release date wasn’t confirmed outside of “2020”, however we can assume it’ll release on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, as all recent LEGO titles have.
