Kylo Ren vs Darth Vader Star Wars fan film review
A Star Wars Fan Film of Kylo Ren vs Darth Vader was recently released on Youtube. Here’s a quick review of how the fan film turned out.
One of the best things about Star Wars fandom is the surplus of great fan made short films churned out by the community.
While they may vary in quality, there is a lot of variety, with many films fitting in perfectly with the movie canon and others made purely for the sake of doing something cool in the Star Wars universe.

This week, the Youtube Channel SeizeTheFrame released their long-awaited Star Wars fan film, titled Kylo Ren vs Darth Vader – FORCE OF DARKNESS, and I must say, after my initial viewing, I thought the film had turned out quiet well.
The first teaser for the film was released back on May 4, 2016, and after three years of development, the finished product was finally released.
As the title suggests, the film is Kylo Ren going up against his grandfather Darth Vader; the antagonists of the original and the sequel trilogies going head to head in battle.
While you may think that this film makes no sense in canon, don’t worry about that, because it does come full circle in the end. Just enjoy the ride.
There is not much to this fan film in terms of plot, but in summary, Kylo and a small group of Stormtroopers are searching for something in a snowy forest (possibly the forest moon of Endor) and Kylo encounters Darth Vader, after which a fight ensues.
The first thing that struck me was the production quality of the film, as the costumes and effects used in it are borderline movie quality. The action is solid and they creators do a lot of creative stuff with the force in it.
If you haven’t seen the film already, I highly recommend checking it out.
The run time is about 7 minutes long before you hit the closing credits, so it’s not a long watch, and even if fan films aren’t necessarily your thing, this one is definitely one of the better ones.
So for those of you who haven’t gotten the chance to watch it yet, here it is.
For those of you who did watch it, that was pretty cool, right?
