The latest Star Wars: Episode IX rumor gives us a look at how the movie will start off once the crawl ends.

Rumors have been swirling a lot lately of what Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will look like. We’ve gotten nuggets here and there, including what the ending would be.

The latest rumor gives a potential glimpse at what the beginning of the movie would look like.

Warning: Potential spoilers ahead, turn back now if you don’t want to be spoiled!

The rumor comes from Making Star Wars again, who has been on top of many of the rumors to come out of the Episode IX camp. This one states that the first scene after the crawl will be what looks like two Jedi fighting.

Two lightsabers are swinging through a wooded area, but their faces are covered and we can’t see who it is just yet.

"The two Jedi break from their duel and remove their helmets to reveal Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa looking exactly the age they did in Return of the Jedi on Endor’s moon. The movie begins with a flashback."

If true, it’s notable for a couple of reasons.

First, we start the final movie of the Skywalker Saga with two beloved characters. Luke and Leia have been at the heart of this story since it began in 1977. We don’t know if this was a previously recorded scene or what that was magically put together for the movie, but it’s still a telling a moment.

Second, it shows Leia had training in the Force. She was strong in it and we saw small moments here and there. She trusts her intuition and is able to sense things through the Force better than most others.

Then when you consider that moment in The Last Jedi where she managed to float herself through space back to the safety of her ship to save her own life, it makes a little sense. That moment caught a lot of Star Wars fans by surprise because it didn’t seem she was that adept at using the Force.

However, a lot of time passed between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Who knows what Leia was up to during that time?

Lastly, it gives credence to the rumor that Leia will finish training Rey. There was talk that she is the one to push Rey to the completion of her Jedi training. While being in tune with the Force doesn’t make one qualified to for Jedi training, the scene would show that Leia had her own training.

Given the training from Luke, Leia’s innate ability as a leader, she would be a fantastic teacher.

Even if this rumor doesn’t turn out to be true for The Rise of Skywalker, I’m getting emotional just thinking about Luke and Leia working with each other. They finally got a chance to be siblings and family neither one of them knew they had.

It’s a touching scene if nothing more than to pull at our heart strings for what may be the last time we see these characters in a movie.
