3. Grand Admiral Thrawn

One character fans are hoping to see on the big screen for the very first time is Grand Admiral Thrawn. The iconic character, who first appeared in Legends, was officially made canon when he was introduced in the animated series Star Wars Rebels and the novels by Timothy Zahn.

Despite being such an influential character, Thrawn has never appeared on the big screen and fans are hoping that will change this time around. There are some really good theories about how the Grand Admiral would fit into The Rise of Skywalker; along with how he may influence future Star Wars movies.

A glimpse of the character in the final trailer to let us know if Grand Admiral Thrawn is being introduced or not would be ideal.

4. A hint at what is to come after

While it is incredibly exciting that a new Star Wars movie is on the way. It is also incredibly sad. For this is an end of an era. The end of the Skywalker story. We’ve all known about the end. It hasn’t been a well guarded secret or anything like that, but that doesn’t mean it has been easy to accept.

Thing is, what is next? What is to come after the Skywalker story?

We know of some planned Star Wars movies in the works. For example, a Knights Of The Old Republic movie is in development. Along with other planned Star Wars movies that are yet to have details revealed.

A glimpse, if possible, as to what is next for fans after this story has come to an end is needed. Because right now, we know so very little.

5. A tribute to Carrie Fisher

This will be last time we will ever see Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. Fisher passed away in December 2016. She had completed filming all of her scenes for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but the question over what would happen in The Rise of Skywalker naturally came up.

Fisher’s family gave the OK to use past footage filmed for The Rise of Skywalker. So, fans can expect to see the greatest leader of the Rebel Alliance once more on the big screen. There have been many tributes towards Fisher since her passing, but this coming Monday would be an extremely significant one.

Some fans may not realize, but October 21 is Carrie Fisher’s birthday. So, to dedicate the final trailer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to Fisher, which will be her final appearance in Star Wars, on her birthday would be fitting.
