Double-Sided Lightsaber

From the sizzle reel trailer at D23, it does look like there will be a double-sided lightsaber making an appearance in The Rise of Skywalker.

We see Dark Rey wielding a weapon that unfolds into a similar-looking lightsaber that we saw Darth Maul use so majestically in his duel of the fates against Qui Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. As cool as that was, it would be even more impactful to see a light side version of this impressive looking weapon.

Rey is already a talented staff user and it makes sense for her to construct a lightsaber using her weapon of choice.

In a recently released TV spot, it shows Rey on some steps on what could be the planet Kijimi. In this shot, look closely at how she is holding her lightsaber. Her hand is high up on the hilt, and there is quite a bit of extra handle protruding behind it, which tends to make one believe this could very well be a staff saber.

It remains to be seen whether she combines Anakin’s old lightsaber with her staff, but that would be a very fitting thing to see in the final chapter of the Skywalker saga.
