General Leia Organa

Leia is one of the few characters left who has been with us since the beginning of the Skywalker Saga. She brought to life such an amazing character that has resonated with fans for a lifetime.

However, this may be the end to Leia’s run as a character. The beloved Carrie Fisher died in 2016 before The Last Jedi was released. Leia lived through that movie, but her body took a devastating toll when she was blasted into space and then Force-propelled herself back into safety.

That time spent in space did a number on her, which was made clear in Resistance Reborn, the Journey to The Rise of Skywalker novel. She suffered from headaches and her body just wasn’t as strong as it was.

While J.J. Abrams had previously unused footage he was able to use for The Rise of Skywalker, the role of Leia will be limited in the final movie. It seems inevitable that her death will occur, especially given the death of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, respectively.

Regardless of Leia will be used in Episode IX, this will be her swan song. We will get to say goodbye to the character we have loved for more than 40 years.

It will be sad. It will be joyful. It will be love.
