Could Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian be used as a backdoor pilot?

Is there more to Ahsoka Tano appearing in The Mandalorian? Rumors want us to think so.

With Ahsoka Tano reportedly joining The Mandalorian for Season 2, there might be more to it than just bringing her character to live-action.

Right now, there are plenty of rumors floating around – and despite a number of media outlets confirming the Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka news – nothing has been confirmed by any official sources. Despite that, The Hollywood Reporter dropped its own little nugget into the rumor mill.

In a recent Heat Vision post, it said Dawson was indeed joining The Mandalorian but also threw in that perhaps there was more to it than just adding a fan-favorite character.

There’s a possibility that Ahsoka’s episode could be used as a backdoor pilot to bring even more original Star Wars content to Disney+.

Would we want a live-action Ahsoka Tano series? Yes, please!

While her character has been known in many Star Wars circles, this would help bring her to the larger Star Wars fan base. It could make Ahsoka a household name because there are still so many fans who have only watched live-action when it comes to Star Wars.

There are different ways an Ahsoka series could go because while we have seen her time in and out of the Jedi Order, and her time as Fulcrum, there is so much about Ahsoka we do not know yet. Perhaps the live-action series would go back a bit and follow Ahsoka and Sabine as they search for Ezra or maybe it fills in the gaps on how she become Fulcrum.

Ahsoka Tano is a compelling character and certainly one that could carry a series on her own. She’s built enough cache among many fans and is engaging. A lot will depend on how Dawson portrays her, but this certainly does open plenty of possibilities.
