IDW Publishing is suspended physical comics coming out in May and holding them for future releases, including Star Wars Adventures No. 1.
As the world is being seemingly being shut down, IDW Publishing has taken a hit. The comic maker, which includes Star Wars titles, announced some changes due to the current health crisis in a letter released on its website on Wednesday.
One of the changes includes suspending comics that were scheduled to go on sale in May, this includes the re-launched Star Wars Adventures No. 1.

These moves come as no surprise as comic stores across the globe have had to shut down to the COVID-19 outbreak. Stores are being impacted with fewer or no sales – and no timeline as to when they will re-open. Along with other measures to help store owners, suspending physical comics when stores might still be closed will bring new customers to shops in the future.
Star Wars Adventures No. 1 was an interesting release. The story focuses on Rey, Finn and Poe, but it takes place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. So just because the sequel trilogy gang took care of the Big Bad, their work isn’t done.
According to the synopsis given with the May solicitation, their work in fighting against the First Order isn’t over.
Palpatine and Kylo Ren may be gone, but there are likely still pockets of the First Order across the galaxy – much in the same way, there were pockets of the Empire fighting long after Palpatine died the first time.
While there is not a new release date, this is probably considered a big title, especially considering the premise. IDW wrote it was focusing “on releasing our biggest projects in special editions to drive traffic to stores through summer.”
