The Mandalorian: Will the second season get delayed?
With new TV shows getting delayed due to studios halting operations, what are the chances The Mandalorian’s second season is delayed?
Every day seems to bring news about a different TV series being delayed. So far, we haven’t heard anything about The Mandalorian, which is expected to release on Disney+ in October.
At this point, no news is good news, but there’s no way to tell if the show will be delayed just yet.

One major positive note is that it has apparently already wrapped filming on the second season. Yet, with scant details on Season 2, we still don’t know just how much has been done. There is much more that happens beyond just the initial filming, which is the most important part of the work.
A number of shows have been held up despite that they have finished filming because of post-production work that cannot be done since studios have shut down due to the social distancing guidelines put in place.
The Mandalorian, while gritty and using as many actual props it can, still relies on plenty of CGI and post-production work. For example, Baby Yoda is a combination of CGI and puppet work.
It really will depend on how long people have to stay home. If the quarantines extend to the end of spring and potentially summer that’s when it’s time to start worrying if The Mandalorian will be delayed. As of right now, it seems there should be enough time to get the post-production work completed.
However, I can’t see Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni putting out a project they aren’t completely comfortable with. So, if we do get the bad news that The Mandalorian winds up getting delayed, at least we’ll know it’s because we are getting the best final project they can give us.
As of right now, I don’t think there is too much concern for a delayed start to the second season.
At least we have the first season we can watch over and over on Disney+.
