The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has a new writer on board since the last one departed in January. Is the Star Wars series in good hands?

Lucasfilm has added a new writer to the Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Disney+ series. It has brought on Joby Harold, Variety has reported.

According to the report, this is the first time Harold is writing for a television series. However, you likely have seen his work before. He was a producer on John Wick 3, but his writing credits don’t extend too far. He’s also working on the untitled Transformers project.

So, what does this all mean?

First the good news is that there is a writer finally on board. The last writer departed the project in January, so there probably hasn’t been much happening on that front until Lucasfilm found the person they were looking for.

With Harold jumping on board, hopefully, this means the project will begin moving forward again. Star Wars fans are really excited for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but there is no telling when it will actually happen.

As far as Harold goes, I have no judgments. I don’t know much about his work and my hope is that Lucasfilm got someone who shares the same vision for what they want. The last thing we need is another shakeup that would delay the project even further.

However, given the current conditions of film and television due to COVID-19, there is a lot more time to be had to get this right. Nothing is filming right now as studios have halted productions until the pandemic is under control and people can safely return to work.
