The newest update for Star Wars Battelfront II has been delayed until at least the end of the month.

EA is delaying its latest update to 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront II until sometime in the late part of April, 2020.

The announcement came via twitter on Wednesday. The update is reported to include the tropic planet of Scarif as well as an “Age of Rebellion” option in the Supremacy game mode and was teased (also via twitter) on January 31.

The new content  was originally supposed to be released sometime in early February. Battlefront II’s Supremacy already features options for the Clone Wars as well as the Sequel era. The “Age of Rebellion” update would complete the popular multiplayer mode’s options of different eras to choose from.  This is a departure from the game’s predecessor. EA’s “Star Wars Battlefront” (2015) only featured content from the original trilogy.

The planet Scarif was originally introduced in 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” as the secret location of the Death Star plans. Scarif was also available to play in “Star Wars Battlefront” (2015) as a DLC map location.

Battlefront II has been ramping up its content output for about a year now. EA has done everything in its power to regain the trust of Star Wars fans after the company’s embarrassing handling of the loot box controversy when the game was released in late 2017.  In 2018, it was announced that the Clone Wars would be a playable era in the game. Since then. then a plethora of new content has been added.

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 could likely be the reason for the continued delay, although the exact reason is unclear. As of the release of this article, an official date has not yet been set for the release of the various updates.

Battlefront II is available to play on XBOX, Playstation 4 and PC.
