You wouldn’t know Daniel Craig was in a Star Wars film as you didn’t see his face. It turns out though, that he played a stormtrooper in The Force Awakens. Craig didn’t play just any stormtrooper though, he played the one that Rey uses a Jedi mind trick on. When Kylo Ren leaves her chained to the table he tasks two stormtroopers to oversee her. Rey uses the Force and the mind trick to convince the stormtrooper not to just free her but also leave her his weapon.

This was a fun moment, and it was cool to find out later that stormtrooper was played by a great actor like Daniel Craig. He clearly wanted to be in a Star Wars film, and having him a masked stormtrooper was a way of giving him that cameo without people being taken out of the film for a second because they recognized his face.

It would be very cool to see Daniel Craig take on a bigger Star Wars role down the line. He’s a great actor and has a look that could be used as an evil Imperial Officer, a noble Jedi Knight, or even a creepy Sith Lord who wields the powers of the Dark Side. Maybe that’ll happen sometime down the road, but for now, having Daniel Craig cameo as a stormtrooper is a fun bit of Star Wars trivia.
