Captain Rex

While Morrison’s announcement as part of the cast sparked a lot of excitement and conversation in the Star Wars fanbase, a few weeks earlier, it was reported Rosario Dawson will be joining the franchise, playing a live-action version of Ashoka Tano, a fan-favorite character from the Clone Wars Animated Series.

Seeing as Ashoka is making an appearance in the show, its possible she may be joined by her old friend Captain Rex, a clone based off of Jango’s template.

Ashoka and Rex helped each other survive Order 66 in The Clone Wars finale, and as seen in Star Wars Rebels, the two kept in contact and worked together following the fall of the Republic.

Rex fought alongside the Rebellion during the Battle of Endor, although what happened to him after then has yet to be revealed. It is entirely possible that he met back up with Ashoka following the fall of the Empire, so if Mando was to seek out Ashoka for help taking care of the child, it would not be out of place for Rex to be there with her.

Plus, seeing as Morrison has already appeared as multiple characters in the same movie in the past during his time in the Star Wars franchise, it’s entirely possible he could appear as both Boba and Rex in The Mandalorian.
