Star Wars star John Boyega joins the protests in London

John Boyega has joined the demonstrations for Black Live Matters that stemmed from the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. The Star Wars star has been outspoken against racism and now is taking part in the protests in London.

Boyega’s support has been met with open arms and love by many of his fans, seeing his celebrity status as a way to continue to amplify the cause.

It’s easy to compare his Star Wars character of a Rebellion leader to what he is doing now, but it is different. This is real life. The choices made can affect his career, but as so many people have noted: the fight is much bigger than that.

Boyega gave an impassioned speech at one of the protests, telling the crowd he appreciated the support and this is the time to keep fighting.

“Black people I love you, I appreciate you, today is an important day. We are fighting for our rights, we are fighting for our ability to live in freedom, we are fighting for our ability to achieve…today you guys are a visible representation of that,” Boyega told the crowd, as reported by Deadline.

And he continued to march through the streets of London with other protesters, which Ott captured as well.

Fans on social media showed their support for Boyega, at a time when other celebrities had severe missteps and mistakes with their support of the movement and their fight against racism.
