“Crazy thing is…it’s true all of it, the Force, the Jedi, it’s all true.” – Han Solo

Han Solo was the driving force behind The Force Awakens. He was a huge part of the story and seeing him back on the big screen played once again by Harrison Ford was a huge treat for fans.

We learned the scoundrel had been going through quite a rough patch. He was separated from Leia, lost his son to the dark side, and also had his beloved ship stolen from him. When he finally recaptures his ship, he is met by two stowaways. He begins talking with them and this is when we learn how far Han Solo has come in the years since we last saw him.

When Rey questions him about Luke Skywalker, Han replies with wisdom and a point of view we never would’ve expected from this old pirate. He says in a stern, and serious tone that “Crazy thing is, it’s true… all of it, the Force, the Jedi, it’s all true.”

This endorsement of the Force is a shocking declaration from a guy who once said that he’s never seen anything that makes him believe there is one all-powerful Force controlling everything, and that there’s no energy force that controls his destiny. Han Solo has witnessed first hand, what the Force can do, first with his interactions with Luke and Darth Vader, and then with his own son. He’s lived a long life and has now had the experience that has made him realize the Force is a very real thing.

This is also the moment Han Solo begins to take on a mentor role. He was once a cocky kid who only believed in what he has seen but now realizes the galaxy is much bigger than he ever imagined and is ready to pass on the knowledge to a new set of heroes.
