The game is set to release October 2, 2020. It will be available for the XBOX One, Playstation 4 and PC. The finer details for Squadrons are unclear but there are a few things we do know. For one, the campaign part of the game will take place some time after Return of the Jedi. In the trailer it seems as though the Empire is still functioning so it is likely to be before the Battle of Jakku.

The trailer also showed fans some familiar faces. Namely Wedge Antilles and Hera Syndulla of Rebels.

Gameplay features are not clear as of yet although there are some details. According to an article from the official Star Wars website, players will be able to engage in 5 v. 5 combat. The trailer suggests that players will have the option to fly for both the New Republic or the Empire.

The game will also emphasize strategy as one of the key components of gameplay in both single player and multi-player modes. In terms of personal rewards, Squadrons will feature a unique customization system that has a “a clear path for progression”.

Squadrons should come as a breath of fresh air for all Star Wars fans. EA’s Battlefront games were not nearly as successful as anticipated (although Battlefront II has finally found a consistent fanbase). Jedi: Fallen Order was a fun single-player game, but lacked any incentive to play besides completing the story.

Squadrons should bring a nice change of pace for Star Wars fans and will surely fulfill the fantasies of those who always dreamt of being an ace star pilot in the galaxy far far away.

Next. The sequel trilogy will age with time. dark
