LRM Online is reporting that we are about to get a lot more content from Star Wars. In fact, it states fans will pretty much have new content all the time.
Reminder, these are just rumors and there is no confirmation, so take this information with a grain of salt.
"Lucasfilm and Disney+ are going all in making sure that subscribers constantly have new Star Wars content all the time. The plan is starting mid-2021 to have a Star Wars show releasing every quarter."
That’s A LOT of Star Wars. Currently, new series have been hitting about every six months or so. The first season of The Mandalorian arrived with the launch of Disney+, then The Clone Wars’ final season hit in February. The second season of The Mandalorian will arrive in October. Beyond that, dates are tentative especially given how filming is currently progressing due shutdowns from COVID-19.
The way LRM Online is describing the formula is that all of the series will be connected. It will tell the story of different families or person, but they all tie together within the same universe.
It sounds a lot like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We got dozens of movies based on different superheroes, but were all part of the same timeline. This project is supposed to work in much of the same way.
According to the report, the overseer of the project would be Dave Filoni – as if there could be anyone else.
Many of the rumors we’ve heard over the last few weeks is that Lucasfilm is looking for actors to play live-action Ezra Bridger, Grand Admiral Thrawn among other canon and animated characters. This project also includes Ahsoka Tano, who will reportedly be played by Rosario Dawson.
If this rumor is true or at least some nugget of truth behind it, it feels like a live-action Rebels sequel. Taking these characters developed from Rebels and putting them into the universe in-between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
