Star Wars once turned Count Dooku into a vampire.

Star Wars has always been the franchise that stands out for being unusual. However, we never thought in a million years that the supernatural elements would come out and play in terms of becoming a vampire. We’re talking about Count Dooku, the former Jedi Master once trained by Grand Master Yoda and the mentor to Qui-Gon Jinn.

Played in live-action by the late great Christopher Lee, the character of Count Dooku became something rather fitting in media outside of the films in which the actor appeared. As I mentioned before the supernatural has played a role in Star Wars but not to a great degree. However, it was a surprise to learn while scrolling through the Count Dooku Wookieepedia page that he briefly turned into a vampire.

Count Dooku: The Vampire

Other than the nod to Christopher Lee’s past acting credits, we need to ask ourselves when in the timeline Darth Tyranus became a vampire.

Well, there was a series of comics called Star Wars Adventures: Tales from Vader’s Castle.  In the second and fifth issues, Count Dooku encounters bat-like creatures who can turn other beings (i.e. humans) into something similar to them.

The species don’t actually have a name if Wookieepedia is any indication though it appears Dooku got scratched by one briefly became like Lord Ravna, who infected the Sith Lord during the Clone Wars.

Count Dooku as a Vampire: Is this Canon?

It might a silly concept meant to honor a great actor’s acting legacy, but yes, the Tales from Vader’s Castle is actually Canon. These stories were also a great way to get people into the spirit of Halloween since the comics were released around that time. There was even a sequel comic series the following year called Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader’s Castle.

dark. Next. Is The Mandalorian becoming too Skywalker Saga centric?
