Rahul Kohli is dispelling rumors that he’s playing Ezra Bridger in The Mandalorian.

With so many rumors flying about the live-action, extended Star Wars universe, you have to be careful about what you put out on the internet — because anything and everything is fuel for the rumor mill out there. And that’s what happened when iZombie actor Rahul Kohli sent out a couple of Star Wars-related tweets that put fans on high alert.

It started with a tweet he sent out today saying the only show people need to watch in October is The Mandalorian, which is airing its second season on Oct. 30. He also mentioned The Haunting of Bly Manor, the Netflix show that he stars in. But that wasn’t it. He then sent out another tweet mentioning Star Wars Rebels Ezra Bridger (but not by name), and that’s what truly had people wondering if he was not only hinting at being in The Mandalorian but playing a live-action version of Rebels’ Ezra.

The reason this really put Star Wars fans on their toes was because Ezra is said to be coming to a live-action Star Wars show via Disney+, though it hasn’t been specified just how that would be. In May of this year, the Illuminerdy claimed that the casting search for Ezra was underway, but they were sure he wasn’t going to appear in The Mandalorian. That’s not set in stone — as it’s never officially been announced by Disney/Lucasfilm — so that still left the door of possibilities wide open.

A little after sending his second tweet, GamesRadar+ tweeted at Kohli with an article they had written about his tweets, and Kohli had to come clean. Though, he did share a side-by-side photo of himself and an older Ezra Bridger, but that just made some even more excited — even if he said he wouldn’t be playing the role.

Finally, to seriously clarify things, Kohli sent a video message out on Twitter (while playing The Mandalorian theme in the background) to set the record straight. Here’s what he had to say in the video:

"Hey, um, so I was kidding. I was kidding. I honestly, like, big shout out to the Star Wars fandom. I’m a part of it. I’m not playing Ezra Bridger at all. I was just goofing around. The fan casting — I’d absolutely love to play that character. Big fan of Rebels. But yeah, I’m sorry for any hearts broken. It was just goofin’ around. Just silly fan casting."

So, while it’s good to know that Kohli is a fan, we can set aside this rumor for now. It seems like he was as honest as could be… though the playing of The Mandalorian theme and the wink at the end does still make one wonder.

Nonetheless, the search for the real live-action Ezra Bridger has been rumored to be underway. And with Rosario Dawson said to be the live-action Ahsoka and Sasha Banks possibly being the live-action Sabine Wren (and both possibly rumored to be in The Mandalorian season 2), as Games Radar points out, it does seem suspicious that two Rebels characters may appear in the series.

We could say, why not make it three Rebels characters? But it may be best to let The Mandalorian be its own thing, and the crew can find out what happens to Ezra in their own separate adventure.
