1. Rancor

There is no monster more creepy or terrifying in Star Wars than the Rancor. This is the ugly and repulsive giant reptilian creature that Luke encounters when he falls through Jabba’s trap door after his failed negotiations in Return of the Jedi.

The Rancor is one intimidating and scary looking creature. It is a towering beast, standing about 20 feet tall. It has brown, leathery skin and two large arms that come out from the head area. At the end of these muscular arms are giant claws that are made for easily squishing its prey. Its head is kind of built right into its torso and the expression on its face always appears to be one of anger. The beast is also always slobbering and has sharp crooked teeth that protrude in every direction.

The Rancor is extremely ill-tempered and a lot of that has to do with the fact that it is kept in a pit that is far too confining for a creature so large. As a kid, we all feared this creature and were very concerned for Luke Skywalker when he squared off against it with nothing but a large bone in his hand. While the future Jedi Master was able to outwit the monster, and eventually kill it, this horrifying and creepy beast terrorized many a younglings dreams after they first laid eyes on its hideousness and ferocity.
