More from Star Wars Books

So, think of all the scenes in The Empire Strikes Back where someone other than Luke, Leia or Han Solo were featured. Was there a background character or a supporting character that should have their story told?

That’s what this book will do as Star Wars celebrates the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back in 2020.

Need more convincing to pick up the new book? Here are five reasons From a Certain Point of View: Empire Strikes Back should be your next read.

1. It celebrates Star Wars

The Empire Strikes Back is one of the best movies in history, if not the best movie in the saga. So many fans regularly point to Empire as their favorite Star Wars film. It’s darker in tone as the Empire fights back against the Rebels, devastating them.

As Star Wars celebrates 40 years of The Empire Strikes Back, this book offers the perfect way to continue the celebration with just two months in the year. It offers unique perspectives and may even let you see a scene a bit differently than you did before.

You’re also probably going to want to watch the movie once you’re done with the book.

2. There’s a deeper look at Obi-Wan

Without giving away any spoilers, one of the stories is actually from Obi-Wan’s perspective. What makes this interesting is Obi-Wan was killed in the first movie and returns as a Force Ghost the rest of the trilogy.

As a Force Ghost, this story would make it seem that he has agency, and it will be interesting to read Obi-Wan’s thoughts about his situation. We have gotten a lot of Obi-Wan during The Clone Wars and the prequels. However, we don’t know much about how Obi-Wan felt about Anakin’s turn to the Dark Side.

With an Obi-Wan TV show coming in the future, this is a good way to prep fans for it.

3. There’s plenty of synergy

There are going to be callbacks to other moments throughout the saga. In an early excerpt for From A Certain Point of View, we get L3-37 back and she’s a spunky as ever.

Sometimes, it all ties together.

4. Proceeds go to charity

While this book is sure to make money, the authors of the book didn’t accept compensation for the book and instead any money they would have made will be going to First Book, a charity that provides educational materials to children in need.

That’s a great reason to get this book and support charity.

5. We could use a good distraction

This year has been crazy, filled with a lot of stress and anxiety. We could certainly use the distraction as we revisit one of the favorite Star Wars movies with a new spin.
