How long is The Mandalorian Chapter 12?

The runtime for The Mandalorian Chapter 12 has been revealed.

With the introduction of episode 4 today, season 2 of The Mandalorian is already halfway through, if you can believe that. We’ve been through so much with the Mandalorian and the Child that it’s almost bittersweet to know that this season’s adventure is nearly over.

At least with the show releasing a new episode every week, it prolongs that sense of excitement over the course of eight weeks (for its eight episodes). So at least it has stayed consistent with that instead of dropping the entire series at once.

But the one thing that hasn’t been consistent is the show’s runtimes. Unlike traditional TV shows, The Mandalorian’s runtimes have been all over the place this season. The season 2 premiere was the longest by far at 55 minutes. And so far, the other episodes have all had varying times. Episode 2 was 42 minutes. And episode 3 was 36 minutes. So what about episode 4, a.k.a. Chapter 12?

The Mandalorian Chapter 12 runtime’s is officially 39:18. Though on the Disney+ landing page, you will see that it’s rounded up to 40 minutes.

This definitely seems to be the sweet spot for The Mandalorian episodes, when it just hits the 40-minute mark. Plus, in all that time, you have to factor in the preview, the opening credits and the closing credits as well. Already, that shaves off a good seven minutes from the overall episode, so you’re really left with only 33 minutes or so of story to tell. Anything less than that, and it’s almost as if we’re back to the traditional days of TV where episodes were 22 minutes long.

Still, each episode has its own pacing, which is good. And thus far, no episode of The Mandalorian has dragged on. In this episode in particular, the story synopsis states that the Mandalorian will be joining some old friends on a new mission. And we know that The Mandalorian is never short of exciting stories to tell.
