With the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on the way, a rumor has emerged that Temuera Morrison could be reprising his role as Commander Cody.

The role of Boba Fett was originally occupied by Jeremy Bulloch in the original Star Wars film trilogy. During the prequel movies, especially Attack of the Clonesit was revealed that the bounty hunter that got thrown into the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi, was actually a clone of Mandalorian Jango Fett and his “son.” Played by Temuera Morrison, the warrior served as the template to a clone army of identical soldiers. One of those soldiers was Commander Cody, who served under Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan was one of the many Jedi who didn’t see Cody and his brothers as disposable. In Revenge of the Sith, the closeness between the clone commander and his general was seen as being not just comrades on the battlefield but as friends, brothers almost.

However, that ends when Order 66 is activated and Cody orders his troopers to shoot down their general on Utapau. This is the last we see of him, and we’ve wondered for 15 years what happened to him. That’s where our rumor comes in. Could Temuera Morrison play Cody again in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series?

More from Obi-Wan Kenobi

During the Disney Investor Day last week, we got the official confirmation that Hayden Christensen would be returning to the series to play Darth Vader in the suit in the Ewan McGregor show. That was the only casting we got. However, the YouTube channel Kessel Run Transmissions (via Star Wars Direct) has revealed that Temuera Morrison would reportedly appear in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

The report does not say exactly who he could play if this rumor is true, but they listed three options.

The first is Cody since he was the first clone with a name he played on the big screen. If this were to happen, it might be a great way to allow them to have a final monologue where the clone apologizes for almost killing his general.

Moving over to the second point is Rex, the clone captain was in charge of the 501st, the battalion that Anakin was in charge of. All Temuera Morrison has to do is shave his head and sport a fake beard if he’s going to play CT-7567 during the Rebels era. (Or perhaps if he appears in flashbacks to The Clone Wars with the blonde short cut hair.) It could be done anyway and fans would be happy.

Now, this third and final opinion is less than ideal. Temuera Morrison could be any clone. Sure, he could appear as Gregar and/or Wolfe, but it might be more ideal if they had Rex with them. Then, there’s the other half of the idea where he could be a random clone trooper that the audience isn’t familiar with.

Given how similar the clones are, all that would have to be changed is a few appearance details like armor and hair color.
