The story of the Skywalker family is an interesting one, and it’s stretched from not just the prequels down to the sequels, but across many books, comics and TV shows as well. Though they may be a small clan, if you’ve had a hard time keeping up with everything, a new book is coming out to give fans the low-down on everything there is to know about the Skywalkers.

On Thursday during This Week! In Star Wars, host Kristin Baver announced that she’s penned a new biography called Skywalker: A Family At War. In this biography, it will cover the generations of the known Skywalker family and chart out their paths as they fought for the Light and struggled against the Dark. Seeing as this book will only cover the new Disney canon (as always, sorry to Legends), this biography will cover the following characters in depth: Shmi, Anakin, Luke, Leia, Ben Solo and Rey.

The book is already available for pre-order now, and its standard retail price is $24.99. There’s some conflicting information about when the book will be out. Amazon says the book will be released on April 6. Baver announced on This Week! In Star Wars that the book will be out on Star Wars Day, May 4. And StarWars.com is a bit vaguer, saying the book will be out this spring.

Will there be more to the Skywalker saga?

This biography should be an interesting one seeing as the Skywalker family story has been told many times and in many different ways. But this book looks like it will be the one to bind all the stories together. As stated earlier, their journeys have been charted in the books, movies, TV shows and comic books, so this may be the one book that ties all those narratives together. Then, hopefully, for some of the fans who don’t keep up with all the Star Wars media, this will be a good way to learn some things about the Skywalkers that they might not have encountered otherwise.

With the Skywalker saga at a close, this feels like just about the perfect time to release a biography like this. The only thing I’m curious to know is how much more will be added about the Skywalkers’ story after the book is released? The Mandalorian season 2 finale opened the Skywalker book back up when they brought Luke Skywalker onto the scene. And it’s possible there might be more of him (or even Leia) as Lucasfilm begins to expand the Star Wars narrative on TV.

Still, regardless of what’s in store for the future, there’s plenty to fill up this Skywalker book. And it should be a fascinating exploration of the complicated galactic family.
