The High Republic: Star Wars profiles the Nihil in new video
By Nick Porr
Star Wars has seen its fair share of scum and villainy. From the force wielding Sith Lords to the crime lords go the Hutt family, a myriad of evil forces have threatened the galaxy far, far away.
To accompany the previously unexplored time period of The High Republic, Star Wars is introducing an entirely new villain: The Nihil.
The Nihil are set to be the featured villains of the recently introduced High Republic era. Featured in the recently released novel Star Wars The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule, the deadly Nihil are a band of marauders and pirates who wreak havoc in the Outer Rim Territories.
Star Wars fans will likely be seeing a lot of the Nihil in the coming months, with The High Republic Era taking a predominant role in Star Wars novels, comics, and more.
Yesterday, Star Wars shared a short video to their YouTube channel describing more about the galaxy’s new threat. If you haven’t heard of or don’t know much about the Nihil yet this is the video for you.
Following the destruction of The Great Disaster, the Nihil now have the perfect opportunity to enforce their will on the reeling Outer Rim territories.
The Nihil pose a clear and present threat to the flourishing republic that we see in the High Republic Era. The Jedi and the Republic suddenly have a new challenge to their prosperity.
The group is remorseless. As mentioned in the video above, they’re “all lead by tempest runners with the same mindset: you can’t take it with you, but we can take it from you.”
If that doesn’t send chills down your spine, I don’t know what will.
The Nihil will do whatever it takes to get what they want, and with their mastery of hyperspace travel are a major threat to the Jedi Order as they are forced to deal with a wide variety of new problems across the galaxy.
“In the shadow of The Great Disaster, the Nihil orchestrate a twisted plan, and use their mysterious yet terrifying command of hyperspace to attack systems affected by the tragedy.”
Surely we will see more of this gang of pirates and robbers soon, as the narrative of the Great Disaster and its lasting impact on the galaxy continues to play out.
