Like any major live televised event, Sunday’s Super Bowl 55 sparked a lot of memes and hilarious tweets, especially during The Weeknd’s halftime performance.

Many of those memes were about Star Wars, especially after seeing The Weeknd’s choir of glowing eyes and his on-field troupe of dancers wearing bandage-like masks.

The Weeknd was the only performer during the halftime show, singing a mix of his hits like “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Starboy,” “The Hills,” “Earned It” and “Blinding Lights,” among others. The Grammy award-winning entertainer started the shows in the stands before taking a slew of backup dancers to the field at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The Weeknd kicked off the halftime show performing below a large choir of people with glowing red eyes. To many, it was a bit creepy. To Star Wars fans, it was reminiscent of Jawas, C-3PO and even the Galactic Senate.

He then kept performing as he walked through a gold-lit labyrinth when making his way onto the field. The camera following him was unsteady and The Weeknd frequently got up close, personal and blurry. Many turned those scenes of close camera work into the meme of this year’s Super Bowl, saying things like “what my coworkers see on zoom meetings when I think my camera is off” and “4 year old me in the grocery store looking for my mom”

When The Weeknd took to the field with dozens of dancers wearing matching red jackets and white bandage-like masks, fans primarily pointed to Jordan Peele’s Us, but some also made memes about Tusken Raiders, a.k.a. “sand people” in Star Wars. Others joked that the on-field performance looked like Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
