It’s possible the upcoming Andor series could be getting an assist from the father of Star Wars himself, George Lucas. Around this time last year, the Illuminerdi reported that George Lucas would have some involvement in the Andor series. But shortly after, ABC news reporter Clayton Sandell reached out to sources and said the rumor is a myth.

So, where does that bring us to today? The possibility that this myth could be reversed by new evidence found by Inside the Magic. As all Star Wars rumors go, we caution everyone to take this with a grain of salt, though it’s worth investigating since it’s out there.

According to the recent story from Inside the Magic, George Lucas is listed as a writer on the Andor series. Not only that, but it says he’s supposed to write two episodes for the series. We checked for ourselves, and currently, Lucas is still listed on IMDb in the Andor series credits.

Is George Lucas confirmed to write for Andor?

More from Star Wars TV Shows

Until Disney and Lucasfilm come out and say it themselves, we can never officially say that something is for sure happening. That goes for this news as well, meaning it can’t officially be said that George Lucas has been brought on to write episodes for Andor.

The IMDb listing very well could mean that Lucas is working behind the camera. But the way the internet goes, you can never know for sure until you hear it from the horse’s mouth. It’s still completely possible that this is a myth and somehow the IMDb listing is incorrect. So we will have to hang tight for now until more details are revealed.

The exciting thing is that if Lucas does come on board, it gives the creator the ability to add his creative touches to the franchise that he sold to Disney back in 2012. Lucas has still been around in the background for various reasons (for example, he did visit the set of The Mandalorian). But otherwise, this would probably be the most creative control he’s had in some time.

Also, if he is writing episodes, should that raise concerns about the show’s quality? Despite everything that had elapsed in the prequels (for better or worse), Lucasfilm has shown that they can make their TV sector as strong as (if not stronger than) their movie division. And hopefully, that will carry over into Andor as well. Rogue One (the movie that the titular character hails from) was so strong as well. And so we can only hope this means the material for the TV series will be just as good.
