There are new big Star Wars rumors coming down the pipeline. And yes, while anything is in the realm of possibilities, this new information should definitely be treated as a rumor for now.

We all know that actor Ewan McGregor will be returning to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the self-titled Disney+ series. But now, The Illuminerdi is reporting that Ewan McGregor will also return to reprise his role in the Andor series as well. This was reported by them on Wednesday, saying that Obi-Wan is expected to have a reoccurring role in the series.

As far as confirmed information goes, the Andor series, of course, follows Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Andor worked with the Rebellion to help steal the plans for the Death Star. And prior to the events of Rogue One, Andor was an expert spy for the Rebellion. The question is, how would Andor’s work lead him to meet Obi-Wan Kenobi if the rumor is true?

Will Obi-Wan Kenobi be in the Andor series?

More from Star Wars TV Shows

It’s quite possible that if Lucasfilm really wants its series to be interconnected, then McGregor indeed may have been cast in this series to play Obi-Wan. And, it would be interesting to see how his character would fit into this narrative.

The series is being framed as a spy-thriller, which could mean whatever Andor’s doing, he’ll need the help of one of the last Jedi to do it. But we also know Obi-Wan would also have to keep a low profile during this time since he is one of the few Jedi to have escaped Order 66. (Though let’s be honest, who else but a spy would know how to keep a low profile?)

With all things, we can’t definitely say that Obi-Wan Kenobi will be in the Andor series. Most scoop sites are hit-or-miss. And these things are best to remain rumors until trade publications share casting news or Disney and Lucasfilm report it themselves.

The question is, though, is this news that Disney or Lucasfilm would even want to reveal to people? This is all very reminiscent of the Ahsoka casting in The Mandalorian. While the casting was officially revealed in the media, Lucasfilm never said anything about the live-action Ahsoka in the series until well after her episode aired.

Only time will tell if this rumor is true, and all will be revealed when the Andor series comes out sometime next year.
