The cast of The Mandalorian could be expanding thanks to a new supposed leak out there. This one comes from Murphy’s Multiverse, which typically reports on MCU and DC news. So it’s interesting to see that the site has a scoop for the Star Wars universe.

Now, according to this scoop, The Mandalorian is set to gain two new characters in its cast for the upcoming third season. The names of the characters are Drash and Skad, and Murphy’s Multiverse says the roles call for “British-sounding supporting characters” who will apparently be members of a street crew.

That’s about all the new information about these characters that there is for now. But news of these two have been around for a while — it just hadn’t been specified what series they would be appearing in. At first, it was thought that the characters would be a part of some kind of Mandalorian spinoff — with The Direct revealing in November that actor Jordan Bolger was attached to play a character in a spinoff involving Boba Fett. (This, of course, was before The Book of Boba Fett was officially announced.)

New Mandalorian characters

The Illuminerdi also picked up on the casting news back in November, revealing that those two exact characters would be a part of the new Mandalorian TV universe. Here’s how they described the role of Skad:

"The first character, a supporting role, is Skad an 18-24-year-old man. Skad is described as British, edgy, fit, and resilient. A faithful member of a street crew, Skad is willing to question authority. An offer is out to actor Jordan Bolger, but if he doesn’t take on the role the casting is open to all ethnicities."

And here’s how they describe the role of Drash:

"The second character, a supporting role, is Drash an 18-24-year-old woman. Drash is described as British, cool, self-assured, and in need of refinement. A faithful member of a street crew, Drash is willing to question authority. An offer is out to actress Sophie Thatcher, but if she doesn’t take on the role the casting is open to all ethnicities."

More from The Mandalorian

There hasn’t really been any clarification about what a “street crew” means for these two characters. It seems like they could be part of a gang of some sort, and that would have been perfect for The Book of Boba Fett.

Tatooine’s notorious gangster Jabba the Hutt is out of the picture and now Boba Fett sits in his seat — thus, so much could come from examining the criminal underworld of Star Wars (no pun intended).

But Mando’s dealt with all kinds of shady people, so we’re sure there’s plenty of ways he could come across Skad and Drash too.

If these characters have been shifted directly into The Mandalorian, it means a lot may be going on behind the scenes as they rework the future of this new Star Wars universe.

One of the biggest components of this supposed rearranging may be due to Lucasfilm’s firing of Cara Dune actress Gina Carano. It was reported that Lucasfilm was planning to announce her own spinoff in December, but a prior controversial moment on Twitter halted that.

This may also be why two upcoming Mandalorian-themed books were abruptly canceled this week. It looks like there has to be some housekeeping with this Mandalorian universe as they rearrange the lore, and we’ll just have to see what happens as the next Disney+ series begin to come out.
