Is it premature to be wondering if Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 will be coming our way sometime in the future? Yes, but we’re going to do it anyway because that’s TV and streaming, y’all.
We’re living in an age where content is getting greenlit for 2-3 seasons before the first even gets off the ground good. And, when it comes to Star Wars, with a fierce fandom base and decades-long source material to draw from anything is possible.
The question is, however, is there enough to mine from The Bad Batch? There are valid points to be had about just how far Disney can take a crew of elite soldiers redefining their purpose in the aftermath of the Clone Wars.
You can tell when a show is surviving on flashiness and surprise appearances. It’s clear in the empty storytelling and the lack of character development.
The Bad Batch season 2 release date
Right now, we’ve got nothing to go on for The Bad Batch outside of a trailer and a synopsis detailing just how Clone Force 99 are going to be fairing in post-Clone Wars society. The answer is not well and it will involve an adjustment that includes mercenary missions.
Guns-for-hire isn’t too bad of a look for soldiers looking to pave their own way, they aren’t exactly heroes after all. But can that be stretched into something more?
We’ll have to wait and see. There’s no word yet on whether The Bad Batch is up for a second season which, honestly, that’s fine by us. The show premieres Tuesday, May 4–Star Wars Day–on Disney+ for a 70-minute debut.
Until we see it, we can’t say for certain whether a second season is even warranted. But whether it is, or it isn’t, we’ll keep you updated on all things The Bad Batch.
