The world of Star Wars is heating up as more and more live-action television series are heading to Disney+. That includes new shows like The Book of Boba FettObi-Wan Kenobi and even Andor.

Not much has been revealed about Andor’s story, but we do know that it’s a spinoff of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and, of course, it’s centered on the titular character, Cassian Andor. This will take place before the events of Rogue One, and we expect to see some brand new adventures with Andor as the spy does what he does best.

Now, there’s quite some time before we’ll get to see Andor on Disney+. And while the show may be getting closer and closer each day, it certainly isn’t coming to the streaming service in May 2021. Disney+ did reveal a slew of shows and movies coming to the platform in May, but new live-action Star Wars shows will be absent from Disney+’s offerings for quite some time.

Andor season 1 release date

As of now, there’s no official release date for the Andor series. Filming is ongoing, but we likely won’t see the series premiere until 2022.

In 2021, we’ll have the likes of Star Wars: The Bad Batch  (the animated series that’s a spinoff to Star Wars: The Clone Wars). And we’ll also have The Book of Boba Fett dropping sometime later this year in December.

That means we’ll just have to be patient and wait for filming and post-production to conclude for Andor — but it should be well worth the wait! Just recently, for example, some set photos had revealed Cassian Andor could be returning to a familiar location, which means he will probably be rubbing elbows with the Empire, whether he likes it or not. Plus, even actor Stellan Skarsgård has shared his enthusiasm for the show, so this should really be a good series.

Hopefully, Star Wars will announce the premiere date for Andor soon. But in the meantime, we’ll be enjoying The Bad Batch, which is heading to Disney+ on May 4.
