We’re so close to The Book of Boba Fett‘s premiere month in December.
Despite a confirmed release date still yet to be announced, there’s still plenty of time to brush up on your knowledge of the famed bounty hunter before the first episode drops.
A good place to start is The Mandalorian, the first live-action Star Wars television series to premiere on Disney+. Boba Fett made his debut on the show in the season 2 premiere, “Chapter 9: The Marshal.”
But do you have to watch The Mandalorian to be able to follow the events of The Book of Boba Fett? Here’s what we know.
Should you watch The Mandalorian before The Book of Boba Fett?
While it would help to have a basic understanding of the storylines that involved Boba Fett in The Mandalorian, it’s not actually necessary to watch the entire series. He’s in a total of four episodes, the gist of which are likely to be rehashed either in dialogue or flashback in his own show.
Boba’s partner, Fennec Shand, is introduced in The Mandalorian, but she, too, is only in four episodes. The first of which, “Chapter 5: The Gunslinger,” she spends being hunted and then left for dead.
If you would like to binge their episodes then we suggest watching:
- Chapter 5: Gunslinger
- Chapter 9: The Marshal
- Chapter 14: The Tragedy
- Chapter 15: The Believer
- Chapter 16: The Rescue
Think of it as your Book of Boba Fett primer in which their story will involve the Hutts and Bib Fortuna in quite the bid for power. A synopsis of what to expect from the series given the events of The Mandalorian has yet to be released, but we know these bounty hunters are raring for a score and a fight.
Until then, you can catch a younger version of Fennec Shand in a recurring role on The Bad Batch, the animated series with Clone Force 99 and a new clone, Omega, front and center. Based on a revelation in a recent episode, there’s even speculation that Boba Fett could make an appearance as well.
