In the very first episode of The Mandalorian season 2, Din Djarin and Baby Yoda met an interesting character who kicked off their adventures that season. Simply known as The Marshal (Timothy Olyphant) to many, this mysterious character on Tatooine possessed something very dear that Mando wanted: Mandalorian armor.

As the audience, we all knew the armor was Boba Fett’s. The Marshal, Cobb Vanth, had been gifted it by the Jawas after helping them — but he had no idea whose it was, and neither did Mando. The Mandalorian simply wanted to respectfully handle the armor out of tradition for the fallen warrior (or so we thought), so a deal was struck between the two.

Din would get the armor in exchange for helping Cobb, the people of Mos Pelgo, and the Tusken Raiders slay the Krayt Dragon. In the end, they were successful, and the little Tatooine town was at peace. After that, Din and Grogu parted ways with the marshal, and we never saw him again. So, is there any hope that he will return next season?

Will Cobb Vanth return in The Mandalorian season 3?

It’s currently unclear whether Cobb Vanth will or will not return to The Mandalorian in season 3. As we’ve seen with the last two seasons, there’s always ample opportunity for characters to return. Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris), for example, made an appearance in the season 2 premiere. And even the Mythrol (Horatio Sanz) had a bigger role in season 2.

That being said, even though Cobb Vanth isn’t one of the Mandalorian regulars, we can’t rule out that he’ll never appear again.

At this rate, we know the Skywalker home planet of Tatooine is quite the hotspot in The Mandalorian, so it’s possible Din could return for the marshal’s help next season. But there’s also another possibility for Cobb to appear in the Star Wars TV universe.

In The Book of Boba Fettwhich is coming out in December, we know that Boba Fett’s taken over Jabba’s palace on Tatooine. Whatever’s going on over there now, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand may have a watchful eye over the planet. And that opens up the opportunity for Cobb Vanth to finally meet the man whose armor he wore.

That would certainly be a fun possibility. But all in all, fans loved seeing Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth in the series, so we know many people would be happy to see him return if the series calls for it.
