If you’re looking for a movie that can fill this lengthy void of time where there are no Star Wars movies, the Warner Bros. film Dune may be what you’re looking for.

The new version of this film, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049), features a star-studded cast, and Warner Bros. released a brand new official trailer for the upcoming movie today. The trailer clocks in at nearly 3 and a half minutes and tells you just about everything you need to know about the movie.

Timothée Chalamet stars as the lead of the film, Paul Atreides, and Star Wars’ very own Oscar Isaac plays his father, Duke Leto Atreides. If you’re not familiar with the original story written by Frank Herbert or haven’t seen the original film, you’ll notice in the trailer that there are some similarities to Star Wars. The desert planet, of course, is very reminiscent of Tatooine. And between all the armor, large ships and other sci-fi-looking landscapes, it’s certainly familiar territory for Star Wars fans.

Additionally, to sell audiences over, the cast is packed with so many stars aside from Timothée Chalamet and Oscar Isaac.

The cast also features Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, and many, many others.

Here’s how Warner Bros. officially describes the movie:

"A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive."

As a pandemic-era movie, this film has naturally been pushed back when it comes to release dates. Hopefully the current release date is final, as WB plans on releasing the movie on Oct. 22. The movie will be available in theaters that day, but if you have a subscription for HBO Max, the film will be available for one month to stream.

So if you’re in for a story that feels slightly like Star Wars and you want to see the star-studded cast, you might want to catch the film when it comes out. This movie is also just one part of a larger story, so there will be more Dune to come!
