The Book of Boba Fett’s directors reportedly includes Extraction director Sam Hargrave
By Mia Johnson
In just a few months, we’ll be able to see the second live-action Star Wars television show hit Disney+, The Book of Boba Fett. The series is set to come out in December, and it’s being teased as season 2.5 of The Mandalorian, which the series is a spinoff of.
Now, as we get closer to that release date, there is some new information about a potential director coming on to the series.
As The Ronin reported over the weekend, Extraction director Sam Hargrave may be on as a director of the series for at least one of the episodes.

This addition makes sense if the scoop is true, seeing as Extraction isn’t the only project Hargrave has worked on recently. Yes, the director has done stunt and fight coordination work for movies such as Avengers: Endgame, as well as Deadpool 2, The Hunger Games series and countless other films. But he also served as the second unit director for The Mandalorian season 2.
For a bit of background about what second unit directors do, StudioBinder says:
"A second unit director is in charge of a film’s secondary crew and a second camera unit that shoots scenes separately from the main unit, aka the standard crew, during principal photography. The second unit director works under the film’s main director and often has no involvement in the main crew."
So, it’s basically all still directing work, which means he should definitely be fit to direct an episode of The Book of Boba Fett. And we know that because of his background, there should be plenty of great action in store.
Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison also revealed earlier this month that Robert Rodriguez, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Dave Filoni would all be on as directors as well. So we’re looking at a full team of familiar talent that will hopefully make The Book of Boba Fett just as strong as The Mandalorian.
Additionally, The Ronin also reported that The Book of Boba Fett has Dean Cundey on as a cinematographer for the series. Cundey has a long career in filmmaking, working on projects like Jurassic Park and Apollo 13. So once again, it looks like Lucasfilm is bringing the best of the best out for its projects.
