With the promise of his own show, the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter, Boba Fett, will be jetpacking into living rooms and laptops later this year. However, it won’t be as soon as we’d like.
And with the release schedule for Disney+ quite full, The Book of Boba Fett will not be coming to the Disney streaming service this August.
The final episodes of The Bad Batch will be airing during this time along with Marvel’s animated anthology series What If…? leaving room for little else until the final quarter of the calendar year.
The Book of Boba Fett release date
So, what is the release date for The Book of Boba Fett? It has in fact already been revealed to Star Wars fans by Lucasfilm itself.
The final episode of season 2 of The Mandalorian had a post-credits scene, a first for the series. It showed Boba Fett himself alongside his partner Fennec Shand arriving at Jabba’s Palace on Tatooine, which had become the dominion of the Hutt’s former majordomo, none other than Bib Fortuna.
The Twi’lek’s rule did not last long, with Fett gunning him down and taking the throne for himself. Aside from this being a tantalizing tease for future content, it provides vital clues for what the Fett show will be about. The show promises to have a very different tone from The Mandalorian. As the scene closes, the title reads “The Book of Boba Fett, coming December 2021.”
Temuera Morrison, who returned as Fett after playing his father nearly 20 years ago in Attack of the Clones, has also revealed that many creatives behind The Mandalorian will be returning to lend their talents to the new show. Reported directors include Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard as well as Robert Rodriguez.
