LEGO and Star Wars have long been the perfect match. If it’s not minifigures and self-built starships, it’s video games that allow players to explore and relive their favorite franchise moments in LEGO form. That’s why news of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga intrigued so many fans… and broke their hearts after the announcement of an indefinite delay this past April.

However, Geoff Keighley restored fans’ hope once more when a recent tweet revealed there would be a preview of the game at Gamescom this Wednesday.

This year’s virtual Gamescom will feature a number of “looks” (previews) for games preparing to release. Though it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about The Skywalker Saga, Keighley promises a “world premiere new look” is upon us at last.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga details

Past LEGO Star Wars games have taken players through a brick-filled galaxy far, far away for nearly two decades, with the original allowing a prequel playthrough and its sequels incorporating the original trilogy of films. Each level of the game takes place at a key moment throughout the movies, and players must defeat enemies and assemble various vehicles and machines with LEGO bricks to allow them to progress to the next area.

LEGO Star Wars has also released games based on The Clone Wars and The Force AwakensThe Skywalker Saga will presumably incorporate elements, story beats, and locations from past games. Similar to its predecessors, the game will likely include a wide range of playable characters from all eras, movies, and likely at least one TV series.

Though it’s unclear how much more information we’ll get this week, it’s likely we’ll get at least a teaser trailer if not a full trailer along with the Gamescom preview.

Oh, and a release date — a real one this time — would also be quite nice. Please.
