Just last year, it was teased that we would get the “rematch of the century” in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Vader vs. Obi-Wan. Padawan against master.

And while the two go toe-to-toe in Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, it doesn’t hurt to see just one more fight between these two epic Jedi. And so, the latest Star Wars rumors about the series offers just a peek at one of the major plot points in the series and gives some details on how the fight will go down.

Now, you’ll want to take this rumor with a grain of salt, since nothing is official. But according to the Star Wars Leaks subreddit, this information has a high probability of being true. So we’ll add a spoiler warning just in case.

Obi-Wan Kenobi series leaks

In this latest Obi-Wan Kenobi rumor, it begins with the plot point that we hinted at earlier. According to this, Obi-Wan will be sent to rescue a prisoner who is very important “to the cause” that he’s helping out with. We’re not sure who this prisoner is or why they’re important. But the rumor goes on to say that person is held prisoner by Inquisitors (one of which is played by Moses Ingram) — so we could likely assume that this prisoner is a Jedi who escaped the purge.

After Obi-Wan is successful with the mission, this then catches Vader’s attention. And he goes to hunt down his former master himself. That’s where the two meet on a planet, which could be Jedha. And Obi-Wan is said to get an upper hand on Vader by Force-pushing him 50 feet back into a rock formation before Vader is even able to attack. But, in general, the two men fight there in that “massive” duel, though it’s not revealed how the fight ends.

On the production side of things, this scene allegedly took two weeks to film. And, unfortunately, they say it wasn’t Hayden Christensen himself who was in the suit while filming this scene. (Though, there are some rumors about how we will get to see Christensen in this series.)

Over on the subreddit, there is a little bit more detail to each of the points we summarized here. But overall, it looks and sounds like this will be a fight that either matches or tops the one from Revenge of the Sith. And, since we don’t know when exactly this scene takes place, we can’t be sure if this is the only appearance from Vader in the series or if he’ll show up again but in a lesser capacity.

Honestly, it would probably be best if Vader was teased for a few episodes first. Yes, we’ve waited this long to see the two Jedi back in action again. But a proper build-up to Vader’s reveal will surely cause the internet to go into a frenzy once that episode finally premieres. And, this is the Obi-Wan series, after all. So Lucasfilm likely won’t want to have all of their titular character’s thunder stolen.

That being said, there’s only a few episodes in this series anyway. So however they choose to do it, I’m sure they’ll find the perfect pacing to make sure the build-up to the duel is done justice.
