Sabine Wren will appear in Star Wars: Ahsoka series as a lead role
By Meg Dowell
Ever since Lucasfilm announced Rosario Daweson would reprise her live-action role as Ahsoka Tano in an upcoming Disney+ series, Star Wars fans have speculated that Sabine Wren would at the very least make an appearance in the series.
Deadline just exclusively announced that Natasha Liu Bordizzo has officially been cast as Sabine in Star Wars: Ahsoka. The outlet specified that the actor has been cast in a lead role alongside Dawson, so this is not a recurring or guest role as many speculated.
Fans have long speculated that Sabine would appear in Ahsoka’s self-titled series. When we last saw Ahsoka before her appearance in The Mandalorian, she was preparing to depart on a dangerous mission to find Ezra Bridger, with Sabine geared up and ready to follow her. It looks like the Mandalorian is still on the hunt for the lost Jedi, who may or may not still be with Grand Admiral Thrawn.
This is the first official casting announcement we’ve gotten since it was confirmed that Dawson, who portrayed Ahsoka in the second season of The Mandalorian, would reprise her role in the form of a series.
It was important to many Star Wars fans that the actor portraying Sabine be of Asian descent, as her character, family, and the voice actors portraying them in the show fit this description and represented this community. Natasha Liu Bordizzo is of Chinese and Italian ancestry, according to her IMDb page.
The actor is best known for her roles in The Society and Most Dangerous Game.
