Christmas truly came early for Star Wars Legends fans this year, at least in the Galaxy of Heroes universe. Three new iconic characters have joined the game in the past month, and another – the legendary Mara Jade – just landed. And there’s still one more hero (or villain?) on the way.

Hailing from the Star Wars Legends timeline, Mara Jade originated as a Force-sensitive Imperial assassin and eventually went on to join the New Jedi Order. In Galaxy of Heroes, however, her kit categorizes her as a dark side character but also an unaligned Force user.

Today, Mara Jade officially became a playable character in the game with her own Marquee event that allows players to unlock the character with multiple tiers. As Mara is known in Legends as The Emperor’s Hand, she is designed to have the best battle synergy with characters such as Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, and the Emperor’s Guards.

Mara Jade’s Galaxy of Heroes arrival follows the additions of Dash Rendar, Kyle Katarn, and Darth Talon, other Legends characters familiar to many fans of the game and Star Wars overall. Together, these four characters will allow players to access and complete Starkiller’s Legacy Event, which officially opens December 15.

However, as with all four of these characters, maxing out Starkiller’s stars and abilities will require unlocking all involved at higher tiers. The only way to do that at this time is by purchasing packs or bundles, but if you have no reservations about doing so, you should have no trouble building your team to its full potential.

Because the game isn’t bound to rules of canon the way the books and shows are, developers have full license to bring in Star Wars characters from every era and continuity. There’s no limit to the number and variety of playable characters they can add next year and beyond.
