With The Book of Boba Fett only days away, the upcoming series’ title character is everywhere. Not just in TV spots and on the cover of magazines, but also in the Fortnite universe as of Christmas Day.
Boba Fett is now a playable character in the game thanks to a brand-new skin and assorted items that will make you feel like you’re the real bounty hunter out there on the battlefield.
This is not the first time the game has brought Star Wars characters into its battle royale gameplay to promote upcoming projects. Somewhat infamously, Emperor Palpatine’s surprise return message to the galaxy premiered in the game just before The Rise of Skywalker debuted in theaters in December 2019.
Rather than a straight promotion of The Book of Boba Fett, however, the game kept things relatively simple and made Boba a playable character starting on December 25. The classic Stormtrooper skin and Y-Wing Glider also became available again to align with the day’s special Star Wars theme.
Acquiring Boba Fett works the same way most special character skins and items are obtained: by spending money (yay?). Fett alone will cost you 1,500 V-Bucks ($19.99 will get you 2,800 V-Bucks). A 2,300 V-Bucks bundle will get you Fett, his Z-6 Jetpack Back Bling, Gaffi Stick Pickaxe, and Starship Glider.
Fortnite has the perfect opportunity to add even more playable character skins to its roster in celebration of The Book of Boba Fett, including Fennec Shand and any other new (or even familiar) characters that show up in the series as its first season progresses.
With all the big surprises that likely await Star Wars fans over the next few months, starting things off with another Boba Fett video game appearance is a great way to mentally prepare for what’s to come.
The Book of Boba Fett arrives on Disney+ exclusively December 29.
