After countless delays and many fandom-wide fears that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would never see the light of day, good news has finally restored gamers’ hopes. The video game finally has an official — final? — release date. And it’s sooner than many expected.
This morning, Lucasfilm Games and StarWars.com reported that the game will release on April 5, 2022. While previous LEGO Star Wars games included only portions of the Skywalker Saga, now that all nine films are complete, this installment will bring together every event from the Star Wars films — all three trilogies — for the very first time. And it’s not going to be like anything you’ve seen in LEGO Star Wars history before.
You can watch the full official trailer below.
According to the trailer above, this game will function slightly differently than previous games in the LEGO Star Wars franchise. Because the full game spans all three Skywalker Saga trilogies, players will be allowed to choose which trilogy launches their adventures.
This game will also introduce a new set of combat mechanics that make gameplay feel more immersive, meaning it’s more than just pressing the same button and launching the same two attacks over and over. Also — space battles. Enough said.
While previous games in the franchise mostly chose your path for you, players can actually unlock new planets as they progress through the saga. You’ll also have more freedom to choose how you want to complete certain levels instead of only having one set path to progress through.
Other new features include being able to upgrade characters, earn rewards, and the ability to activate Mumble Mode. You know … for reasons.
With over 300 playable characters, side missions, and more, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be an experience you’ll want to replay over and over for years to come.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is finally almost here. Are you ready?
