LEGO Star Wars games have been around for over 15 years. But LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is set to be a completely different experience for players, based on what we know about the game’s modes and mechanics.

Senior Producer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga James Burgon told 9News that TT Games could have simply remastered the previous games in the franchise for longtime fans. However, they knew they could do better.

“We could’ve gone with a straight remaster of the classic games, however, we really wanted to push the boundaries of what a LEGO Star Wars game could be,” Burgon said, going on to explain major differences between this game and previous installments. “Combat has been entirely reimagined, from aiming down the sights of a blaster to have full control on what Stormtrooper you’re focusing on, to having full 360-degree control of the camera at all times; allowing you to pick up rocks using the Force and fully control where you throw them.”

Burgon also touched on how the game will allow players to explore locations from the Skywalker Saga films in ways the films simply couldn’t.

“Actually letting players land on Exegol and explore the Sith Loyalists hideout, from chasing down prototype clones to discovering secret Sith notes revealing evil truths is something I’m really excited for players to be able to do,” he said.

This game will allow players to unlock and play with over 300 Star Wars characters, choose their own path to completing the game, and so much more. And the wait is finally almost over.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will release on multiple platforms on April 5, 2022, including but not limited to PC, Xbox One and Series S/X, Playstation 4/5, and more.
