The Star Wars Celebration official panel announcements are in, and fans of The Mandalorian can look forward to a weekend panel all about the past and future of the series.
On Saturday, May 28, The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni will appear at the “Mando+: A Conversation With Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni” panel. The two creators and unannounced special guests will take “a look back and a look ahead at what’s to come” — for the show? For the Mando-verse at large? The StarWars.com announcement kept things vague.
Little information about The Mandalorian Season 3 has been revealed up to this point, and it’s possible they’ve been saving all the exciting updates for this panel. But the title of the panel itself, Mando+, does lean into the idea that The Mandalorian series is simply the focal point of a much larger Disney+ “universe” of shows. The Book of Boba Fett, for example, overlaps in time and events with some of Din Djarin’s adventures after Mando Season 2. Other future shows such as Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic are likely to follow a similar format in terms of their timelines.
Despite everything fans might learn at this panel, the same way Baby Yoda (Grogu) was kept under wraps at the Mando panel in 2019, the creative team will definitely be holding some Season 3 details back. Still, some updates are better than none.
While specific additional panelists weren’t announced, it has been confirmed that Carl Weathers, Emily Swallow, and Katee Sackhoff will be attending Celebration. You might see them on this very panel trying not to spill all the secrets about the show.
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 takes place from May 26 to May 29 with more guests, panels and more to be announced in the weeks leading up to the event. Stay tuned for more coverage before and during the convention.
