Many Star Wars fans who were around in the 2000s have voiced frustrations about the lack of Star Wars games — compared to the previous decade — in the 2010s. When EA held an exclusive license with Star Wars content, it focused much of its energy on mobile, free-to-play games that encouraged fans to spend money for in-game rewards.

The Battlefront games, Jedi: Fallen Order and Squadrons largely changed the narrative, of course. But now we’re seeing even more games announced under the Lucasfilm Games umbrella — including a new original story by Amy Hennig.

StarWars.com announced this morning that a new game is on the way, this time a collaboration between Skydance New Media and Lucasfilm Games. Studio head Amy Hennig will “develop and produce a narrative-driven, action-adventure game featuring an original story in the Star Wars galaxy.”

Hennig is a renowned writer and director who is best known for her work on mega-hit games such as Legacy of KainJak and Daxter, and Uncharted. She spoke to StarWars.com about how much Star Wars influenced her future career.

“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,” said Hennig, who is the president of, Skydance New Media. “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”

Lucasfilm Games vice president Douglas Reilly said there’s nothing more exciting than being able to witness a collaboration between Amy and the creators at Lucasfilm.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure.”

Skydance New Media also recently began working with Marvel Entertainment on an original game set in that franchise. So it’s safe to say the games we’ll be seeing from this studio — which has only been around since 2019, but likely isn’t going anywhere anytime soon — aren’t going to fly under the radar. Quite the opposite, surely.
