After both seasons of The Mandalorian, Disney used the streaming platform the series debuted on to test a new type of content: behind-the-scenes, documentary-style looks at how the show was made. This trend has continued with the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows as well. Now it’s time for Star Wars to take another turn with it.
According to a report from What’s On Disney Plus, the next installment of the Disney+ Disney Gallery series will focus on the most famous bounty hunter in a galaxy far, far away — or rather, the most recent show named after him. The Gallery will drop on Star Wars Day.
The special will focus on the making of the show and what it was like bringing Boba Fett back into live-action on such a large scale (he had a small though significant role in The Mandalorian Season 2).
So far, Disney+ has only released behind-the-scenes specials for the live-action series it has released, and with Andor, Ahsoka, and the third season of The Mandalorian on the way, there’s plenty more content like this on the way.
However, there’s also an open opportunity for them to give the animated shows some love as well. The Bad Batch is the only Disney+ original Star Wars animated series that has been released so far, but there’s no reason they can’t dedicate time to behind-the-scenes reveals from the making of that show. Who DOESN’T want to listen to Dee Bradley Baker talk about voicing so many different characters so seamlessly?
Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett will drop on Disney+ on May 4, 2022.
The Book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen and is directed by Robert Rodriguez, Dave Filoni, and others. You can watch all seven episodes of the Mandalorian spinoff on Disney+ now.
