Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead may not have shared the Star Wars screen together (yet). But the two actors do share a lot — including a son. The Hollywood couple is now married — just in time for McGregor’s grand return to a galaxy far, far away this May.
People reported earlier this week that the two, who have been together since 2017, married in a small ceremony for family and close friends this past weekend.
The couple met on the set of Fargo in 2016 and were first romantically linked after Winstead’s divorce. McGregor is also divorced from his first wife, with whom he shares four children.
Speaking about the wedding, a source told People: “They had an outdoor ceremony. It was lovely and joyful. The menu was farm-to-table. They are an adorable couple. They are pretty low-key and like their canyon life. They often hike and go to the beach.”
McGregor played Obi-Wan Kenobi for the first time in 1999’s The Phantom Menace and is set to reprise his role as the iconic character next month in Disney+’s original Obi-Wan Kenobi series. He hasn’t played the character on-screen since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, which was also the last time he shared the screen with Hayden Christensen on a Star Wars project.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead will also be joining the Star Wars franchise as a member of the Ahsoka cast sometime next year.
Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor with appearances by Hayden Christensen and Kumail Nanjiani and is directed by Deborah Chow, who previously directed an episode of The Mandalorian. The series is set to premiere May 27, 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
