Years after its original release, Fortnite continues to draw in and retain players with its seasonal content and updates. The game allows players to engage in combat with all kinds of weapons. But recent reports suggest lightsabers might be part of a May 4 update thanks to a challenge that requires inflicting damage with the weapon of a more civilized age. What better way to celebrate Star Wars Day?

Fortnite Tracker reported on the return of lightsabers to the game soon, but also noted that other additions such as stormtroopers and Darth Vader could be coming to the game as well. Fortnite hasn’t officially announced any surprises, but players are pretty clever when it comes to finding hints of upcoming updates in the game’s files.

Fornite is largely famous in the Star Wars fan community for releasing the news of Palpatine’s Rise of Skywalker return days before the film was released in theaters. Plenty of other Star Wars-related content has previously been available in the game, and there are plenty of players who want lightsabers back for good.

The most likely recognition of the unofficial holiday in the game will be the return of fan-favorite Star Wars skins, which players are usually able to purchase and unlock upon release.

Even if major updates don’t hit the game on or before Star Wars Day, there will be plenty of other ways to celebrate May the Fourth — including new Star Wars merchandise and likely some major announcements of exciting things to come.

Fortnite is free to play on your go-to gaming platforms, including PS4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, Xbox One and both Mac and PC operating systems.
